Reunion 2007 Photo Galleries

Reunion 2007, San Antonio is now a memory, and what a memory it turned out to be.   Despite the threats of Hurricane Dean, and the sweltering heat and humidity of San Antonio, the troops started to roll in on Wednesday morning.  In total we had 162 men of the 6-31st in attendance - or at least that was our best guess... if we missed anyone, please let us know so that we can correct our attendees list.  Although we do not have a total attendance for the reunion at this time, we know that the banquet served 330 meals so I think it is safe to say that it was without a doubt the biggest reunion ever.

Wednesday and Thursday were a day of getting reacquainted.  The Gruene Adventure tour was held during the day for those wishing to sight see but the majority of attendees spent time in the hospitality suite, pool side, or the lounge to meet and greet their brothers and families.

As darkness descended on San Antonio those at the hotel were treated to drive-in movie screen slideshows poolside.  It was amazing to see everyone gathering poolside to watch as the photos from this website were shown on the big screen complete of course with music of the era.

Thursday evening some folks headed out to the Cattle A Ranch for an evening of Texas BBQ, Rodeo type shows and Country music.  Alpha Company had their annual reunion dinner, CPT Ron found another excellent Italian restaurant for us.

Again as the evening hours approached the slide shows were running poolside.

Friday started with a very moving ceremony at the San Antonio Korean and Vietnam memorials where we took part in a wreath building ceremony to honor those fallen.  Then it was time to board the buses for the San Antonio and Ft Sam tours.

Upon return from our day long tours, the men of the 6-31st gathered for our own 6-31 memorial service for all of our fallen and deceased brothers.  (The memorial service can be viewed from the homepage link).  Although it was a brief slideshow by the time it was over, there wasn't a dry eye in the room as we all reflected on those that have gone before us.  COL Carlson asked to speak a few words and led the room in the Our Father, followed by a prayer offered by CHPLN Burns.

Reunion 2007 Memorial Service
a 37 minute presentation

The presentation of the 6-31st High Attendance Trophy followed our service with Jim MacMaster and Jerry White being presented the trophy.   Although Delta Co has had the most men in attendance since forever, it was noted that despite line company affiliations, everyone in attendance was a winner, being reunited with their brothers.  From an original list by Jim MacMaster and a few other small lists we have grown our member list to 3231 names with over 1300 located and wanting to be in contact.

Friday evening some of the attendees headed off for the Riverwalk/Mexican Dinner Tour while others gathered in small groups.  Again poolside slideshows were shown with more and more gathering to watch.

Saturday, as tradition has it; the day started with the 31st Association memorial service.  Followed by the business meeting.  Alpha Co, CPT Ron Corson was elected the new commander of the Association with Charlie Co, CPT George Mauldin as the vice-commander.  We thank Vin Zike for his service as commander and Bill Dolphin as vice-commander and look forward to working with Ron and George as they begin their term in January.

Saturday evening the banquet, the Shanghai Bowl Ceremony and another evening of enjoying each other's company.

The banquet wouldn't be complete without those wild and crazy Alpha guys dancing to their theme song "We Gotta Get Out of this Place" although this year's performance was held in the hotel lobby instead of the banquet dance hall... shhhhh don't tell anyone but a few Delta guys were actually found on the floor.

All too soon Sunday was upon us and the troops began their departure.  A large number left on Sunday with some staying an extra day.  A little sightseeing of the Riverwalk and downtown San Antonio and too soon it was time to say the last goodbyes.

Although as one would expect with a large crowd there were some issues and misfires I think it is safe to say a good time was had by all... and we certainly look forward to San Pedro in 2008.  If you are interested in the San Pedro be sure to visit Reunion 2008 pages, Louis and Suzanne Dominguez have been hard at work planning the events for next year.

Reunion 2008

A few notes - we were asked during the reunion to include photos in the slideshows, because the DVD's were created in advance of the reunion with software that was compatible with the hotel we were not able to add photo shows during the reunion.  Images in various formats or created with non-compatible DVD software prevented us from adding shows on the fly - the electronics used by the hotel did not allow us to use their pc and just run a pc slideshow option, the DVD's needed to follow certain specifications and time did not permit us to add photos.   We ask that if you want your photos included in the presentations for 2008 to please be sure and get them to us in advance of the reunion.  If you currently have your photos in an album on this website, they will automatically be included in any presentations that we create for future reunions.

We were asked if the 6-31 memorial service would be available on DVD so that one could have a copy.  The service can be viewed following this link and will remain a part of the website, however if you do wish to have a copy we will create a DVD for you, just send along an email with your request.

Looking forward to seeing you all in San Pedro in 2008
