Mobile Riverine Force Association
Although we have links to the MRFA and associated websites to the MRFA within our related links, we are dedicating this page to the brothers of the MRFA.
In conversation with one of the HHC men, we were talking about the brotherhood with the MRF and he mentioned he would like to be able to see some type of reunion with the men that served on the USS Benewah. Taking a lead from that conversation, I corresponded with Don Blakenship and Albert Moore regarding an exchange of information and reunion information. As a result of that correspondence this page is to provide you with a resource for contact with the guys of the MRFA. Here are some excerpts of the correspondence with Al and Don.
This is Albert Moore with the MRFA we use to have a few members 6th/31st attend our reunions in the mid 90s then they put together an association of their own. A little history the 6th/31st though not designated Riverine serve on and off the ships and the boats of the MRF many times. Actually the 6th/31st was the last 9th Army unit to be on the ships and ride the boats which they did in the push into Cambodia.
I also served on the USS Benewah APB-35 1966-68 and also served at Dong Tam 1968-69 so remember the 6th/31st well they have a great name... and it would be a honor to see and meet some of them again.. My web sites are www.mrfa.org my Benewah site is www.ussbenewah.com anyone you're incontact with might enjoy the Benewah site many pictures of the ships of the great green fleet...

The MRFA website is packed with information about the Association, members, Vet services and assistance and a lot of memorabilia. The Benewah also has a roster of the men that served. Don's personal website www.rivervet.com. The photos throughout this page were sent to us by Al. The MRFA also has a mobile trailer used as their museum, the trailer is transported to the reunions, note the side of the trailer is a memorial to all those of the MRF and 9th ID who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
