In Appreciation
The creation of this website was not and never will be construed as a venue to take away from the endeavors of others in their quest to express their own thoughts and creativity. It is said that "no man is an island" and in this wondrous world of the internet there certainly are no islands. All are able to create their own expression of their beliefs, and to publicly take a stand on what they hold true in their hearts and in their minds.
The initial creation of these pages, was born from my personal desire to pay homage to my brother and my brother's brothers. The connections made as a result of that desire, resulted in the recognition that there is a greater purpose in the reunion of the brothers. The focus of this site; to be a resource to make those reunions possible.
My thanks to the Alpha Team, for answering the call. What began as a simple objective in my mind to help locate a couple of guys, rapidly became a focused effort to locate all the men of Alpha Company. A task that could not be accomplished with the efforts of those that believed in the endeavor. The hours of telephone calls, letters, searching the memory banks is the reason for the success.
Once a 'little' snowball starts traveling down a sloping hill, it gathers momentum and collects more snow, thus increasing its size... and thus a master list is born. The information found in locating the Alpha Company was the start. Delta Company had their own ongoing efforts, it made sense to meld the data together, gather what could be found for the other Companies and develop the master.
Our Delta counterpart and the Delta Team answered the call. In appreciation to Jerry White and company for all their invaluable contributions not only for the Delta data but for contributing so much to Bravo, Charlie, Echo and Headquarters company information.
The reunion of the men has continued to result in even more information being brought forward, contributing to the success of locating all the men. The enthusiasm we have been shown solidifies the value of the effort. A debt of gratitude is expressed to all the men and woman who believe in this project and have contributed in any way with their memories, providing a home state, or putting a real name to the 'nickname'.
These pages will always be a work in progress, and will continue to grow only as a result of the effort and contribution of the men who not only served, but who are the 6-31st. I thank you all; for the men you are, for what you gave, and what you continue to give.
