Chat Room Help
The Hooch is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year... stop in anytime, no promises anyone will be there, but you are free to use it to have a real time chat with your brothers.
Pre-arrange with your brother a meeting time; grab a refreshment, sit back and relax in the Hooch and have a conversation just like you used to. To enter "The Hooch" click on this link or the link at the top of this page.
Chat sessions begin 9 pm Eastern time every night of the week
Here is a brief tutorial on the chat room display options.
It will take a moment for the flash chat software to load… enter a user name and hit enter… no password is necessary. Now comes the fun part…. You can customize some of the display options.
Click the Options button
Text Tab –
The font size default is 16 Arial - you can select a size and type.
Effects Tab
Avatars you can select an avatar to display in front of your name in the main Chat Screen and in the Room List
You can change the transparency of the Eagle by sliding the bar to the left or right. If you prefer not to see the Eagle background image - uncheck the box to show background
Sounds can be muted if you prefer
Main Screen Options
The Here box allows you to designate whether or not you are in the chat…you can be ‘here’, away, busy or BRB – for those all important refreshment refills and duty calls.
The look of your type can be changed with the B, I, or color box
The save button allows you to save the chat
The clear button will clear all the conversation currently showing on your screen - this may or may not improve your connection
Room List
If you left click on any name in the room list it will give you the option to send a private message or share a file.
You can cut and paste in the message box so if you want to send a weblink just copy/paste you don't have to key it in.
One important note.... don't be surprised if your cussing returns unexpected results, there is a bad word filter in place... you can still get your point across but we don't have to 'see' the word.
Rooms
There are multiple rooms available for chat.
The Main Room is "The Hooch" and this is where the main chat takes place, if you want to have a semi-private conversation "The Mess Tent" is available.
Please be aware the Mess Tent is not a private room, however your conversation is not viewable from the main chat window. To enter "The Mess Tent" - just below the Welcome Note is a line that says: Room The Hooch - to the far right is an arrow box click on that and you will see "The Mess Tent" move your cursor down and click and you'll enter. To return to "The Hooch" repeat the process.
Connection Issues
If you are experiencing connection issues there are two things that might help. We recommend that you clear the Macromedia storage settings on a regular basis if you are an avid chat user.
Verify that you are using the latest version of Macromedia Flash - Macromedia Flash Player Support
