Mrs. LaPointe sent us the following letter

3 June 2006

I received your newsletter and with sadness read that there will be a reunion held here in Syracuse in August.

My husband, First Sergeant Francis E. LaPointe, HQ Platoon, C Co., 6-31st, served in Vietnam in 1970, died February 12 2005.  He would have been so pleased to hear of the reunion and it's being held in Syracuse.  His photographs and memories of the men he served with that (his 2nd tour) tour, were mentioned often.  My husband was an exemplary soldier and a credit to the uniform he wore proudly.  He was a decorated hero and I am so sorry that he is not alive to plan to see some of the men he would have shared heartfelt memories with.

My regards, in his memory, go out to all those attending from Charlie Co., especially:

Captain William Lusk

1st Lieutenant David Hackett

Captain Steven Honza

Sergeant Anderson

Sergeant Hiyik

Arthur T. Connick

John Alderman

Best regards to all those who have worked so hard to put the plans in order for the reunion, and to all who attend.  There is indeed a special relationship between the men who served together in Vietnam, and I hope that your reunion will allow that your reunion will allow that brotherhood to share very special times together.
