Comments by SGT. Dan Ziegler:

Death of SSG Thomas Perry and PFC Guadalupe Flores. Just a brief note regarding my recollections of this event.
Both of these men were not in the second platoon.  SSG Perry was one of the few platoon Sgt's I remember in Bravo Company.  He was national guard.  It seemed as though the rest of us were RA's or US. The area of operation around Dong Tam was abundant with booby traps.  I believe these two men were killed the same day.  I remember standing in formation with second platoon and hearing their names being mentioned as KIA.   I looked over to where SSG Perry always stood and of course his place was now absent in formation.  I remember him as youthful, energetic, witty, good humored and mature.  As a platoon sgt with little time for on the job training, he shouldered a lot of responsibility.  I remember feeling that his passing was in some sense inevitable.  It was Charlie's way of fighting a war without fighting it.
