Comments by Jerry White:

John (Doc) Aldrich was my D Company, 3rd Platoon Medic when we first arrived at Vinh Kim in the summer of 1969. He was officially assigned to HHC company since he was a medic. He was wounded by a booby trap in Dinh Tuong province. At the time, it looked like a $1m wound that would get him home; however, we were told later (right or wrong) that he contacted pneumonia and died. Our platoon was, of course, shocked and saddened to receive the terrible news. He was a good man.
