31st Regiment Association

The Objectives of the 31s Infantry Regiment Association

Thank you for inviting me into the site. I want everyone to know that I will gladly field any questions about the Association. I won't have all the answers, but I'll get them.

I would like to start off by telling everyone what the objectives of the Association are. These are stated in our constitution, I believe in them, and I will do all in my power to guide the Association to meet these objectives.

The association provides opportunities uniting past present and future members of the 31st Infantry Regiment in a national program dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the 31st Infantry Regiment's history, customs, and traditions.

PLEASE READ THESE. THEY ARE IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US!

Specific objectives are.

1. To foster patriotism, esprit de corps and loyaltyof it's members to the 31st Infantry Regiment.

2. To foster and strengthen associations and friendships formed during the service with the 31st Infantry Regiment.

3. To honor the 31st Infantry Regiment War Dead.

4. To encourage a close and cooperative alliance with the active duty unit of the 31st Infantry Regiment.

5. To preserve the history of the 31st Infantry Regiment for future generations through the written, pictorial, or recorded recollections of associations members.

6. To support the Government of the United States and its Armed Forces; and to give to them, in peace and war, the same devotion and service expected of us as members of its Armed Forces.

These objectives relate to all of us. They are meaningful to all of us. No single personality dominates the Association, nor does any group have a strangle hold on it. It is my organization. It is your organization. It is OUR organization.

Keep in mind, my former platoon sergeant talked me into going to the reunion last year. I really had no significant interest in the Association. I was a life member, but I'm a life member of more than a dozen organizaitons. I came away from the reunion as the new commander of the Association, but more importantly, I came away with a renewed sense of brotherhood with the men that walked the paddies with me all those years ago. I also recognized that that brotherhood included a line of incredible heroes who stood the line of freedom in war and peace, staving off enemies of the past, and making all know what George Orwell so aptly put, People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I'm honored to be in this position, and I am honored to stand with those rough men.

So, good, bad, or otherwise, please direct your issues about the Association to me. I'll deal with anything.
